The Basic Digital Literacy for Rural Clusters in Northern Nigeria program, in partnership with the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, aligns with Sustainable Development Goals 1, 4 & 10 (No Poverty, Quality Education & Reduced Inequalities). The program was designed to reach 1000 vulnerable people in 10 states in Northern Nigeria targeting 50% vulnerable women and girls (aged 8-18; 45-65), 30% Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) e.g mobility, speech, polio, etc, 20% for other vulnerable groups.
The training was implemented across the following Northern States: Benue, Jigawa, Kwara, Kogi, Kaduna, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto and Zamfara states.
OBJECTIVES
- To enhance the pandemic resilience of vulnerable populations in rural clusters in Northern Nigeria.
- To increase the number of digital literate vulnerable populations and people living in underserved communities in Northern Nigeria
- To increase the number of vulnerable populations willing to study and participate in STEM at a tertiary level
- To empower vulnerable groups in rural clusters In Northern Nigeria with the digital skill set required for the future of work and advanced learnings for the 21st century
- To ensure that people in underserved communities in Northern Nigeria are exposed to the skill set needed for advanced learning consequently reducing the likelihood of continued poverty for beneficiaries
